Department of Public Transformation
The Aim: The Department of Public Transformation, a Minnesota nonprofit focused on developing creative strategies for increased community connection, civic engagement, and equitable participation in rural places, was in need of community engagement and creative services for its upcoming capital campaign. The campaign would need to support a grassroots effort to renovate a storefront in downtown Granite Falls that would serve as a creative gathering space for artist-led community development.
The Outcome: Katrina and her team worked with Founder Ash Hanson to design a thougthful and inclusive process that would build excitement around and contribute to the development of the the case story for this rural-focused creative space. In addition to creating the case story, Katrina also developed a strategic campaign plan that would help the DoPT maximize community resources and reach an ambitious goal. In December 2024, the YES House completed its $1 million capital campaign, transforming a historic main street building into a creative community gathering place.
